Apron is used for manual and mechanized movement of carriage along the longitudinal axis.

There are following part used for mechanize movement of carriage along longitudinal axis.
a) Saddle
b) Compound rest
c) Apron
d) Cross- slide

Carriage move with the help of Apron, Cross- slide, Compound rest and Saddle.
